Understanding the social aspects of geothermal energy

Last month, PUSH-IT organised a webinar for project members, featuring Daniëlle van Duin from Polycentric, who provided valuable insights into societal engagement in geothermal projects.

The webinar explored the social dimensions of geothermal energy across Europe, presenting and comparing various case studies.

Here are some of the key discussion points:

  •  What factors might trigger resistance to geothermal projects?
  • How do different societal engagement strategies impact project success or failure?
  • What influences how a project is perceived by local residents?
  • Why is there no ‘one size fits all’ strategy?
